Pocatello and Grandma Thornton's Birthday!!!

What a weekend!!! Friday night, we left for the beautiful metropolis that is Pocatello, Idaho. Why Pocatello you ask? Well, we had a very important engagement there. My Grandma Thornton was going to have her 80th Birthday Party (or as she learned from my aunt - we were celebrating the 10th anniversary of her 8th birthday).

Maybe I should back up for a minute. Earlier in the week, Emily started to not feel good. On Thursday, she even went to the doctor. I hadn't seen her this sick for a long time, so I was worried, and we started contemplating not going to the party. Well, on Friday afternoon, when it came time to head out she was feeling good enough to drive (thank goodness that it's only 2 1/2 hours up there).

On the way up, we stopped in Bountiful and met up with my Aunt Kathryn and cousins at Pace's Dairy Ann (I have absolutely no idea what a "Dairy Ann" is) to have Rainbows (a slush with soft serve ice cream in it - delicious). It was good to see them all - and my cousin Katy's cute new baby. Once we left Pace's and Bountiful, we cruised the rest of the way - due largely in part to the wonderful music of my "Guitar Hero" playlist on my iPod.

We arrived safely, albeit a little later than we had planned. We checked in and found our room (all 5 of us stayed in the same room). We saw everybody really quick, but Emily and I had to go grab something to eat because she was not feeling good at all (look at the photo in the slideshow). We got her some chicken noodle soup at WinCo and went back to the hotel room and she ate and we went to bed.

The next morning (Saturday) the whole family was invited over to Lee Riley's house for breakfast. My grandma worked in Lee's salon for many, many years. Once we finished up there, people went about their various errands in preparation for the party that evening. Emily, Murray, Kelsey, and I went back to the hotel room. Emily promptly fell asleep (remember she's been sick) Murray and I tried to hook up the Xbox to play Halo, but the hotel's TVs "don't do that." - Front desk worker. So, after a long 5 hour nap (that was plan B for us), we got ready for the party - and off we went.

The party was a lot of fun. We got to see people that I hadn't seen in years. It was quite entertaining - including an impromptu cheerleading performance by my aunts and my dad and a close family friend. There was delicious food, and the cake was stellar. Oh, and yes we did really light 8-0 candles (that's 80, one for each year - you know how that works). Grandma seemed to have a great time.

Emily and I love Grandma Thornton, she is the life of the party wherever she goes and keeps the family together. For her party.

On Sunday morning, we got up early to meet everyone for breakfast. It was good to chat one last time before we had to leave. Thanks to everyone for all that they did to make that party so great!

The drive home was somewhat uneventful - we made really good time. Kelsey slept most of the way - but I didn't (that wouldn't have been good). We got home safe and sound and now we can blog about it!

U2 Lazer Show

Our good friends Rachel and Sean are here for the summer. Last weekend the 4 of us had dinner at the Red Iguana & went to the U2 Lazar show. The Mexican food was wonderful! I'm not sure how I've lived here pretty much my whole like and never gone there. Don't worry now that I know about it, they won't be able to keep me away. After dinner we saw the Lazar show and I was pretty impressed. My stomach flipped a few times, and I got a little dizzy(that's a good sign). The music awesome of course and we decided they can make a U2 version of Guitar Hero. After the show was over Dylan got a little excited about the gift shop and we caught him playing with all sorts of random gadgets. Still a kid at heart, o how cute!

Thanks to Rachel and Sean for a great night out, we are so glad you are here for the summer (or part of it at least).

Happy Fathers Day

My dad and I have always shared a special bond and lets be honest I'm his "Little Princess"! Growing up I loved to do anything my dad liked, just so I could be with him. We shared lots of fun times and after a while I really did enjoy all of these things. . . . BYU football, drawing, trying to fix things in or around the house, fishing at 5am, shooting on Thanksgiving, yard work, even watching Star Trek or M.A.S.H. after the news at night. I always knew that he loved me and that he would do anything for me.
My dad is the kind of guy who would give the shirt of his back to someone he doesn't even know if he thought they might need it. He taught me how to work hard, never give up and follow my dreams. I sure love you Dad, thanks for all the fun times and great memories.

(This is now Dylan) - Em's Dad is a great guy! He has taught her to love some very important things in life, football definately being one of them. Like she said, he's taught her how to work hard and has been so supportive of us both.

(This is Dylan - again.) My dad and I are alike in many ways. We like many of the same foods, some of the same activities (Wii!!!), and share many opinions. He has been supportive of whatever I've wanted to do in life, even if he didn't agree. He's a really hard worker, he always needs to be doing something - otherwise he'll fall asleep sitting straight up. One thing I remember is that when I was young, he used to love vanilla ice cream with "magic" shell (the chocolate stuff that you put on ice cream and it got hard) and he would sit down to eat it and watch Jay Leno, but invariably he fell asleep - and would always wake up once the ice cream had completely melted. Now when I sit down at night and the same thing happens (which it does - all the time) I know where it's come from. Thanks Dad for all you do for Emily and I. Happy Fathers Day!

BBQ

Last Saturday we got together with Leslie, Tanessa, Devin, Mathias, Kelsey, Murry and Cheryl for a BBQ. We haven't hung out together for a really long time and we have missed them so much. We went to Leslies to eat dinner (we wanted to do the whole out doors BBQ but the weather didn't want us to for some reason, rude) Anyway. . . Leslie's house is so cute, she has always been a super decorator and gets an A on this one too. We had Devin and Tanessa's famous hamburgers and all the fixin's that go with it. We have a great time catching up with everyone and playing cars with Mathias who is sooooooo adorable. He is getting so big and so handsome. I just want to let you know how much we love you guys and how thankful we are to have you in our lives! Thanks for a fun evening. Lets be sure to do it again soon!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

We are so lucky to have 2 of the best mothers in the world.

My mom is one of my best friends, we have so much fun together. We love to go shopping, to lunch and to the temple. We love making cards together, baking sweets and talking. She has always been my biggest fan. No matter what I'm doing she cheers me on and thinks I'm #1. I love my mom so much and look up to here more than she will ever know. She was always teaching us through her example. She is constantly making bread or dinner for someone else. During christmas even when we didn't have much she was giving to some who had even less. She is truly a selfless person. If there is one thing she does better than anything else its got to be being a mother. I love you mom!!!! Thanks for all you do for me.

I also have a wonderful mother-in-law. She treats me like I'm her own daughter. We also have a fun time together. We love to drag Dylan to girl movies and shopping on my birthday. She taught Dylan to be a great gift giver, the love for reading, great rock and roll and science fiction. I couldn't ask for better. I sure love you Cheryl, happy mother's day!!!

Like Emily said, we really are lucky to have great mothers. They support both of us in all that we want to do and I don't think that we thank them enough. My mom has always been a great example to me. She's worked hard and has succeeded in life. As Em already wrote, my mom taught me to love reading. There were many, many nights growing up where she would have to come and tell me to go to sleep because I'd stay up reading. She's always supported me in whatever it was I did. She came to almost every one of my football games in high school (even the ones away). She taught me to love music. We both share really eclectic tastes (from classical to country - and pretty much everything in between.) Also, I have a wonderful mother-in-law. She cares so much about her kids, sometimes she even goes into what I call "Momma Bear" mode - (one example: when Em and I were first married, Em had to go to the ER. The doctor there told us that he felt that Em was faking being sick because they couldn't see anything wrong. Man, I will never forget Em's mom telling that doctor what's up.) She supports us in what we want to do. She even supported me when I decided that I wanted to be a teacher and earn the big bucks! I love you both very much! Happy Mother's Day

Happy Anniversary!!!

Wow can you believe it has been 3 years!!! The time has gone by so fast. In the last 3 years we have had our ups and downs but the best part is that we have had each other to lean on through it all. Dylan is my soulmate, he knows more about me than I know about myself and loves me in spite of it all. Our friendship started in Jr. High over 10 years ago. We dated each other's friends and were always in the same group at dances but never each other's date. We were always close and our friendship never faded. After high school Dylan served a mission in California Spanish speaking. We started writing to each other every week and it continued even after I went on my mission. Those letters meant everything to me. It always seemed like his letters would come on a day I thought I couldn't do any more. He inspired me, encouraged me and most of all he truly Believed in me. After we both came home we hung out almost every day. I was going through a really hard place in my life and Dylan never left me. It took me a little longer than it took Dylan to realize that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him but he always has been the smarter one of us. It was the best decision I've ever made and it is proven to me every day when I wake up next to my Best Friend.
Dylan thank you for never giving up on me, for always being there, and for always loving me! I thought it would be fun to do a little Blast from the Past and see how far we've come in the past 10 years!

Jr. High: We met in 9th grade through our friend Camille. We were each others 1st kiss and after that never dated till after our missions. (we needed some practice in the kissing area. It wasn't so great! lol)


High School: We never grew out of the "Dress UP" stage I guess. We had a lot of good times in high school!


Us on our missions we wrote to each other every week without fail. Dylan Served in Cali and I was in Korea. He was an awesome missionary and really helped me have the desire to serve a mission.

Dylan came home 4 days after me and didn't know I was home yet. (I came home due to my health) He was so surprised to see me, it was pretty funny.


This was my 22 birthday. We were not yet dating but he sure hung around a lot (lol) At this point we were just best friends and nothing more (or so I thought). We did most everything together , I don't know why it took me so long to see how Amazing it would be to date my best friend!!!



Once I figured it out we got engaged Jan 5, 2008. Dylan brought me chinese food and inside the fortune cookie it said "Will you marry me"? It was so cute! We drove around all night showing our families the ring!!!


What a wonderful day! It rained, snowed, and even gave us a little sunshine for a min or so. We got married in the Mount Timpanogos Temple at 10am. We had a fun and busy day and then a great party that night. We danced till we dropped! Thanks to our parents for a wonderful wedding.

10 things I love about Dylan

1. He always believes in me even when I don't believe in myself
2. He can always make me smile (even if I'm crying)
3. He is the Best gift giver (way better than me, ask my mom or sisters they'll tell you its true. I have to thanks my mother-in-law and sister-in-law for that they tough him all he knows)
4. He sings to me in the car. (he even dances to it's a real show!!!)
5. He helps me on all my photo shoots (what a good sport)
6. He never complains when I don't have dinner ready for him when he comes home
7. He usually lets me be right
8. He's the 1st to say he's sorry after we have a fight
9. He never tells me NO
10. He puts my socks on at night when I'm too cold to get out of bed and do it myself
